TOURIST VALUES

The terrains on Tara are suitable for winter sports. The rich and varied flora and fauna, the beneficial climate, the Drina river with the artificial lakes Zaovine and Perućac... give this mountain great tourist value.

In places with gentle slopes, passes and erosion expansions, there are localities that are very sunny and sheltered from the winds. During the winter period, conditions are favorable for sledding, Nordic and beginner skiing. The possibilities of alpine skiing are limited due to the difference in height of only 400 m and the length of the tracks which do not even exceed 2 km. However, many consider that these are some benefits that suit them just like that.

In 1981 JP National Park Tara was entrusted with the care of the most beautiful mountain in Western Serbia. It is assumed that the Triassic limestones, on the northern sides of Tara, were the coast of the Pannonian Sea in the Tertiary. Due to the favorable climate and remoteness, the Pančić spruce, a relic and endemic of the Balkan peninsula, has survived on Tara, as well as many other natural monuments.

The tourist and natural offer of Tara is developed and rich, and contains attractions for all generations and all types of tourists.
